I have encountered a lot of mixed feelings this Valentines Day, as well as the days leading up to it. The excitement of first valentines, the disappointment in the lack of. Each year this holiday meets you with a weird feeling because you never quite know how to respond to either the holiday or those surrounding you with their feelings/opinions about it. For myself personally, the romantic holidays never really phase me. Would I like to experience the potential excitement of these days, of course! But Valentine date or not I have a joy in my spirit all the same. There was something I heard years ago that has really just changed my perspective while approaching these designated days of romantic gushiness.
Valentines Day is a whole day devoted to the celebration of love, which is a great reminder that yes, love DOES exist, and we can celebrate that regardless of the day's itinerary or company.
I remind myself and encourage you to take confidence this day in the Lord. If we are not content in him it doesn't matter where we try to seek consolation and definition. We were created to be in relationship, but our relationship with the Lord sets precedence for our other relationships, family, friends, and lovers alike.
To experience HIS love for me, and take on his heart of love for others. I don't do well at either, being loved or extending love. But I can still take on His confidence through my weaknesses and all my messes.
I love this song. It puts encouragement and joy into my little heart. Not just for this day, but for every.
(ignore the talking @ the beginning)
Won't you take this cup from me?
because fear has stolen all my sleep.
If tomorrow means my death
pray you'll save their souls with it.
In this hour of doubt I see
who I am is not just me
so give me strength to die myself
so love can live to tell the tale.
Let the songs I sing bring joy to you.
Let the words I say confess my love.
Let the notes I choose be your favorite tune.
Father let my heart be after you
