Today’s Reading:
The next step in battling against your toxic thoughts is to replace those thoughts with God’s truth. The best place to find God’s truth is in His Word.
Why is it easier to think toxic thoughts than it is to focus our minds on the truth?
Why do we rebury the things that we allow ourselves to acknowledge? So we’ve recognized toxic thoughts…now what? We allow fear of what could happen if we let go of these things to overwhelm us and we sit comfortably in our misery. These things that we’ve suffered through, they are a familiar suffering. Are we more afraid of the unknown freedom? This is how Satan keeps us where we are, content in our misery. At least we know what to expect. But this is slowly killing us. Be anxious for nothing… and the peace of God, whichsurpasses all comprehension will guard your hearts and minds.
Practice these things. It’s not easy to change our cycles, the ease of toxic thoughts that are ingrained into our subconscious. We have to practice these things.Lord help us recognize our thoughts so we can counteract them with your truth, and practice this until your truth replaces these thoughts.
What things are toxic thoughts, and what things are circumstantial. We must learn to tell a difference. Grief.
Grief is circumstantial, not toxic. Grief can lead to toxic thoughts if we aren’t daily combating it with truth and strength from the LORD.
Good things, like a job promotion, aren’t toxic, unless we let pride, arrogance, etc. begin to seep into our thoughts and take credit for things that we only have because the LORD blessed us with them.
In all circumstances, think on whatever is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, good repute. In this way of thinking we will fight off toxins before they plant root.
